Just finished up some product for the local shop here “I Like You” to re-stock. They sold nearly all my pieces during the holidays and I finally just now got around to makin’ up some more. Hehe….whoops!
cheers!

I’ve been a busy busy girl in the studio this week! Between freelance and commissions, blog re-design and the usual internet puppy-stalking my days have been pretty full. I thought I’d share a peek and some of my favorite Locality paintings I’ve been finishing. One of my clients ordered a piece back in November and now she’s got family members putting in their orders right and left. 3 from the same family…and it’s so cool to see all the similar memories they include! I love it.

cheers!

Hey guys! So this was supposed to go up yesterday but due to some wordpress wonkiness, it got a bit delayed. No worries though! Problem solved and we’re back in action.
I wanted to announce a big sale going on this week in my Locality shop! All custom hand-lettered typography paintings as well as all custom digital prints are on sale just for this week. It’s one of the last weeks to place your custom order to ensure it’s delivered by February 14th.
The sale only applies to these two custom order sections (no city prints, sorry). To apply your discount, just enter the word “SWEETIE” at the checkout and include your list of words, typeface and color choices in the “note to seller” section. If you have questions about the ordering process, check out the item description on a custom piece or just contact me directly and I’ll help ya out.
cheers!

They’ve been a couple crazy-busy weeks but I think it’s finally safe to say I’m totally done with my first holiday shopping season as an independent seller. It’s been hectic but I got everything polished and out to clients in time for the holidays. I’ve already gotten some over-the-top thank you notes! It’s one of the best feelings in the world to know that something you worked so hard on is now proudly displayed in someone’s home. I wanted to share some pics of all the projects I’ve had my hands on for the past weeks (and some I can’t show since they’re Christmas gifts!). Paintings, prints, stitches, sewing, cutting, wrapping and everything else inbetween.

Phew! Now for a cheesy thumbs up! Bah, I need a manicure…

cheers!

Local Minneapolis maker, Martha recently launched a fall line on her site Scarf Shop and it’s just gorgeous. Martha’s hand-dyed scarves come in tons of lovely colors and 4 sizes…all the way up to Giant (um…48″ wide x 108″ long). Along with scarves, she also has a lovely little jewelry shop called Uniform Natural which is filled with very geometric, minimal pieces.
Also, I’ve been playing around with a few prototypes for some new shop items so I thought I’d share a little peek. I like how these ones look inside a frame…still deciding on what kind of frame and playing around with more colors but so far so good! I need to test a couple more ideas first but what do ya think…any color combos you’d like to see?

cheers!

I’ve been busy revamping my Locality site for the past day or two. Taking new photos, descriptions and editing…all those things that can eat up an entire day. On a little break yesterday I started playing around with some new ideas for OhHi so I thought I’d share. I’m thinking I’ll be doing a lot more with bright, bold colors. Thoughts?
Ahh, I can’t believe another week has gone by and it’s almost October! (Not going to lie, I might have already started planning and ordering pieces for my Halloween costume. ha, oops?) If it’s almost October it means it’s almost time for my much MUCH needed trip overseas! I’ve been needing to disconnect and spend some time by the ocean for a long while. Can. Not. Wait.
Hope you all have a wonderful (and not too gloomy/grey) last weekend of September!
cheers!

I’ve decided to make a nice little change to my Locality shop. From now on, all of the digital prints are going to be printed onto textured artist canvas! This includes both the MPLS and St.Paul prints as well as all custom orders. I made the decision to switch from printing on stock to printing onto canvas because I love the hand-crafted quality of the original painted canvases and didn’t want to abandon that aesthetic.
All of the same colors and typefaces are still offered so swing by the shop and take a peek.
cheers!

Hi guys! So I’m really excited to finally show you some new things I’ve been tinkering with over the past month. First, let me explain a little back story. (I know it’s a lot of text…sorry guys. Deep breath…aaaaand go!)
Locality is my other shop of custom hand-lettered paintings and custom prints. I’ve been doing these pieces for a while (almost 2 years now!) and although it’s quite time-consuming I really truly enjoy making such personal pieces for friends and clients. When I started up OhHi in February I knew I wanted it to have it’s own distinct feel and mission, but I didn’t want to give up Locality completely. Through the past few months it’s been a little bit of a balancing act, trying to focus on 2 shops at once and I wasn’t sure how it should be solved. (Do I stop giving Locality much of my attention and focus on building up OhHi? Do I just call Locality “OhHi”?) I didn’t feel comfortable with either. About a month ago boyfriend and I were chatting and he suggested a simple solution but one that hadn’t crossed my mind. Keeping Locality what it is, he suggested it become an “offshoot” under the umbrella brand of OhHi. I loved it! Nothing had to change and I didn’t have to give up what I loved making. However, this got me thinking of ways I could try and bring Locality a step closer under the larger brand of OhHi so, even though they’re remaining separate, there would still be a recognizable trait through all the work. Focus on typography is a large aspect of both OhHi and Locality so that is naturally a common point but I wanted another, maybe more subtle link.
That’s where this new line of Locality comes in. Since I started Locality I’ve tried to keep it relatively neutral colors. I liked the strong, bold look and my clients did too. However, after building up OhHi and filling it with such bright and fun colors I began missing that with Locality but I didn’t feel comfortable with using those tones with the product lines I currently had in my shop. A few other aspects I wanted to tackle were making hand-painted products at a lower price point as well as streamlining the order & customization process. I played around with some ideas for a while and after a few failed prototypes I found just the solution I wanted!

“Welcome Home Baby” is a line specifically for new babies, parents, grandparents or godparents. Offered in 4 bright color options and 2 sizes (8×10 & 8×8) these hand-painted canvases are more affordable than the larger canvases and make a lovely personal touch to a new nursery. Simply provide 5 key bits of info: baby name, parent’s names, date & time born, weight & length and location. I also add a light maple color border around the edge of the canvas so it will sit flush up against the wall or on a dresser. Check them out in the Locality shop. Cute!
I’m so happy about these pieces and I feel really good about how the pieces are starting to click together.
Hope you all are having a wonderful Thursday (and thanks for reading all that…phew).
cheers,
