I love working through the holiday rush with my favorite Christmas music playing. My December playlist rarely changes year to year with the same mix of personal favorites and classics. I love em all…but I hold a special place in my heart from this holiday favorite, circa middle school. It’s my musical equivalent of Home Alone…it’s not Christmas without it.
Hope you all are having a lovely Friday. It’s been a while since I’ve posted some music up here. I’ve been listening to tons of mash-ups and covers lately so I wanted to share some of my faves with you guys. Enjoy!
Also…hi to all the visitors from Freckled Nest. You guys are too sweet.
cheers!
Well, here we are at the unofficial end of summer, beginning of fall weekend where we all unplug, run out and enjoy summer’s last little pieces before having to worry about bringing a jacket and scarf along. Of course this means my “Super happy summer music” series is ending so I thought I’d add all the songs that I wasn’t able to get to in time. They all make me smile and remind me of the these last few days of summer. Enjoy!
I caved this week and finally bought her album (I was holding out for the turntable to be fixed…sigh). It’s been on repeat ever since and I’ve loved getting up early, making some coffee and rockin’ out to this song as I start out the day. The video is so out there and different, I love it!
Today it seems the work keeps coming in (great I know!) and I’ve got some large orders I’m working on all at once. I’ve also been neglecting my HomeEc class this week and my sewing machine has been sitting on the table, very sad and un-used. I’ll have to change that this weekend and play a little catch-up. The tote bag project has been my favorite so far but I think I’m just in love with the fabric I found for it. For those of you in the class, how are all your projects coming along? Are you starting to fall in love with sewing?
This song is always a good one to start the day off with. As I’m writing this the sky outside is turning pretty black and stormy. Maybe this song will turn it around. I guess the video is unfinished (clearly) so try not to judge by that. hehe. Hope you’re all having a wonderful Friday, only a couple more in August! How did that happen already?
cheers
Today’s happy summer song is one of my all-time favorites. I still haven’t grown tired of it after a good 4 years of nearly constant play. They’ve got such an interesting sound. I saw Beirut last year at Pitchfork and it was by far the largest audience they had ever played for. It was so sweet, you could tell they were stunned and excited by the size and energy of the crowd. Those shows are the best, when performing is still new and thrilling for the band and it makes the entire experience better.
I also just learned how to play this song on my Uke so it’s been stuck in my head for a couple days. I’m trying to get myself back into practicing and messing around with it at least once a day. It’s such a nice cute little instrument to have around!
A few years back, a friend sent this to me and said “I heard this and the first thing I thought was ‘Laura’.” Aw…couldn’t think of a better song to be reminded of.
I might be back a little bit later today with a big post on something I’ve been wanting to write about for a while. Just a little something that’s been on my mind a lot lately. However, I might just wait until I have it all ready and polished. (It usually takes me a couple rounds to get big posts to where I want them to be).
