Make: Flavored Simple Syrups

May 29th, 2012

As the unofficial start of summer was celebrated this past weekend, I thought it would be fun to make some essentials for the ensuing bbq’s, picnics and patio dinners that fill Minnesota summer months. When I get the urge to try a new drink recipe, it seems that all the good ones call for flavored simple syrups. So in the name of being adequately prepared, I picked up a couple ingredients to make 4 delicious simple syrups to enjoy in the upcoming months.

Each of these are based on a ratio of 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water. If you want to make more or less, it’s easy to adjust each recipe to fit. It’s not an exact science so have fun with it and try adding some additional ingredients to each mix! I’ve also included some tasty drinks that call for each syrup. For non-alcoholic versions, try subbing ginger ale, Fresca, sparking juice or club soda for the alcohol.
