DIY // Tissue Frills

March 31st, 2011

Hey internet people! I wanted to share a little DIY I made while coming up with some wedding-related “merch”. It’s a fast and inexpensive way to add a little color and surprise to a gift box.

Measure the area you want to cover (mine was around 3″) and take a stack of tissue paper (probably 4-6 sheets) and begin cutting out strips. Stack each separately. Next, take each stack and fold it in half, hotdog length, and staple it together. Take a scissors and snip along the open, unstapled edge. Then, folding each right above the staple, stick each into the inside of the lid (or whatever you’re putting them on) and repeat until the whole area is covered.

Frill out the tissue enough so it covers the staples and you’re done! For my purposes I needed to use white tissue but colored tissue would look killer.

I picked up the boxes from Paper Source so adding a little something inside makes them look just a bit more custom.
cheers!
